The Premier League have announced their next round of inductees into their Hall of Fame, and joining former Arsenal captain is Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney. The striker joins Eric Cantona, Roy Keane and David Beckham in representing the club on the prestigious list.
Rooney holds the title of the only player in Premier League history who scored over 200 goals (208) and registered over 100 assists (103). He was also known for his all-action approach to the game, which involved him getting back to defend, creating from deep and then also running forward to be the focal point of counter-attacks.
He was a complete player and one of the major reasons why United won the Premier League five times during his spell at the club. And now he has been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Rooney is considered a lot of modern-day United fans to be one of their favourite players. Many will have fond memories of playing football on the school playground, teeing up a shot from distance before shouting the striker's name and letting it rip at the poorly constructed nets.
His work rate embodied something that many United fans will be missing given their current struggles in the Premier League, consistently giving 100% throughout the entire game. He was also a leader on the field eventually earning the captain's armband.
And most fans have continued to support Rooney's exploits post-retirement as well, with some United fans calling his Derby County team their second team and watching the fledgling manager's attempts to pull off the great escape in the Championship. Rooney's Derby county team currently sit bottom of the table and are eight points from safety with seven games left to play, but given they started on minus 21, this is still impressive.
Some have even touted Rooney to be a future United manager, though this may be much further down the line despite his former clubs current search for a manager. But of his current achievement in entering the Hall of Fame, the fan base and even David de Gea, who played alongside him, were unanimous in their support for the decision:
