“I feel lucky” - Adrien Rabiot speaks out after failed Manchester United transfer

Adrien Rabiot said that he feels lucky to have stayed at Juventus after a move to Manchester United fell through in the summer.

The Juventus midfielder was heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford over the summer. He was deep in negotiations with United after a fee of around £15million had been agreed between the two clubs.

However, the 27-year-old had hefty wage demands and that led to United pulling the plug on the deal. It was part of a summer that saw Erik ten Hag's side also fail to land top target Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.

Rabiot has since prospered with five goals and two assists for Juve this term.

Now, he has spoken about his decision to stay in Turin, telling La Gazzetta Dello Sport : "It’s true, there were contacts with Premier League clubs, but in the end, I was lucky to stay, perhaps it was the best decision.

"The Premier League is the most followed league, but I don’t think about the future. I am focused on the World Cup. The club and I are in no hurry (over contract), there’s serenity so we can consider all options.”
