'I feel for him' - Duncan Ferguson sends message to Frank Lampard after Everton loss to Chelsea

Duncan Ferguson has admitted he has sympathy with Frank Lampard following Everton’s defeat to Chelsea.

The Blues were beaten 1-0 at Goodison Park in their opening Premier League match of the season on Sautrday. A first-half penalty from Jorginho was enough to settle the contest after Abdoulaye Doucoure was adjudged to have fouled Ben Chilwell in the box.

Everton pushed for an equaliser throughout the second half but could not find one. However, they were not helped by the disruptions caused by injuries to defenders Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina.

And Goodison great Ferguson, who was Blues boss Lampard’s assistant manager until he left the club this summer, has given his view on his old club’s performance..

“I thought Everton were comfortable in the first half, unfortunate with the penalty,” Ferguson told Sky Sports. “They came out in the second half, they did well, created a few chances. From there, they were quite comfortable without being a real threat.

“I think that big number nine they were missing, he’d (Dominic Calvert-Lewin) have made a difference to them. I think they started the second half well, Chelsea never created anything in the second half until (Raheem) Sterling in the 80th minute but I thought Everton were comfortable and unfortunate.

“I feel for Frank tonight, he lost his two centre-backs. I feel for him but it was a decent performance and not much for Chelsea bar the penalty.”
