I famously scored for Celtic vs Barcelona at 18 - I now run my own sock business

Former Celtic striker Tony Watt runs his own sock business.

Watt famously scored for the Parkhead side in their renowned 2-1 win over Barcelona in 2012 at just 18 years of age.

In the long term, it never really worked out for the frontman in Glasgow's east end. Watt has since gone on to enjoy spells at Charlton, Cardiff, Blackburn, OH Leuven, St Johnstone, Hearts and St Mirren, to name but a few.

He now finds himself on loan at Motherwell from Dundee United.

The 31-year-old has made 26 appearances for the Fir Park side this season, although he has diverted some of his focus to his new grip-sock business, Play Essentials.

Specialising in a plain white design, the grip-socks, made for footballers, come in sizes small, medium and large.

They have been worn by the likes of David Turnbull, Lennon Miller and Nottingham Forest full-back Alex Moreno.

A three-pack of personalised grip socks from Play Essentials will set you back £52.

Watt started the business in February of this year, and it has taken off since.

Earlier this year, he recalled his time at Celtic and relationship with manager Neil Lennon: "They [Celtic] wanted to sell me right after the Barca goal," said Watt [Open Goal].

"I was gutted. It was like somebody had dumped me, and I never wanted to go back.

"Then he [Lennon] turned around one day and told me ‘you’re not going’ and I was like okay that’s fine.

"He’d bring me back for the big games but bomb me out for everything else, so I’d always be out of the team. Then one night he told me to go up the road and I was like ‘I’m not going’.

"He said ‘who do you think you are?’ and he lost it with me. We weren’t quite head-to-head, but I backed off and we left it."
