'I expected more from us' Eddie Howe pinpoints the big factor that disappointed him against Everton

Eddie Howe says that he wants his Newcastle United team to carry much more of a threat than they did during the disappointing 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park. The victory for Everton came after Newcastle failed to break down the home side after they had been reduced to 10 men following a red card for Allan.

Howe admits he is looking to sharpen things up in the final third ahead of the clash at Tottenham Hotspur on April 3. And it will be one of the things Newcastle work on in training over in Dubai during a week long stay in the Middle East.

After the Everton clash, Howe said: "We have always looked a threat in recent weeks. We've had goals from different areas of the team whether that's set-plays or open play but it just wasn't there.

"Against 10 men I expected a lot more from us. It just didn't happen. We did not pepper their goal like I thought we would or like we have done. We didn't make good decisions with the ball."

Newcastle will now prepare for their clash at Spurs with Howe grateful for the chance to regroup in the illustrious resort of Dubai.

Howe added: "We are on a run of difficult away games and now we go to Tottenham. "So difficult period but we have a little break now to refocus for that game."
