'I don't want to slander anyone' - Kieffer Moore speaks for first time since Cardiff City claim over Bournemouth move

Bournemouth striker Kieffer Moore batted away questions over the manner of his move away from Cardiff City, claiming he did not want to "slander" anyone with his explanation.

Moore's potential departure away from the Welsh capital city club has been a plot point for the last two transfer windows and his exit had a sense of inevitability surrounding it.

The Wales international eventually sealed a move to the promotion-chasing Cherries on the final day of the transfer window, with Cardiff bringing in Uche Ikpeazu on loan from Middlesbrough to compensate for Moore's sale.

Cardiff manager Steve Morison said Moore "effectively forced" through his transfer to Bournemouth after he tabled a transfer request.

Morison said he would prefer to have a group of players together fighting for survival rather than someone whose heart wasn't truly in the cause.

Moore himself hit back on Instagram, signing off his farewell message to Bluebirds fans with a cryptic; "Don't believe everything you read in the paper."

And, in his first interview since joining Scott Parker's side, he said that one day he might explain his version of events surrounding his Cardiff exit.

"I am not going to really speak about that," he told the BBC when asked about Morison's transfer comments. "I don't want to really slander anyone or get into that.

"I am just going to skip the question. Maybe one day I will say something, maybe not."

Moore joined Bournemouth in a deal which could potentially be worth £5m if add-on criteria is met.

When Wolves were interested in his services last summer, then manager Mick McCarthy said Moore was interested in securing a move to the Premier League.

And Moore, 29, revealed the opportunity to play in the top flight was a big pull for him to move to the south coast club.

"I have made it clear that I want to play in the Premier League," he added. "I saw this as an amazing opportunity."

"The position the lads, the staff and the manager have put themselves in is great and I am going to come and try to help the lads get over the line for promotion."

Having been the main man in Cardiff for 18 months following his £2m move from Wigan, Moore's move to Bournemouth could see him playing second fiddle to the in-form Dominic Solanke.

Solanke has been on fire this term, firing in 18 goals to help third-placed Bournemouth enforce their promotion credentials.

With the small matter of Wales' World Cup play-off semi-final against Austria in March on the horizon, Welsh supporters will want Moore to be playing as much football as possible.

And the Wales striker himself admitted it would be less than ideal if he found himself on the bench for the coming months.

"It's not going to be ideal [if I am not playing regularly] but who knows what can happen over the course of the next three, four months," Moore added.

"I am a very fit person. I do a lot of extras in the gym, so I am never not in a position to play."

Moore is cup-tied for Bournemouth's FA Cup clash with Boreham Wood this weekend, but could make his Cherries debut against Birmingham City on Wednesday.
