‘I don’t think it’s a surprise,’ says Celtics president Brad Stevens of Grant Williams’ growth as a player

The absurdly cold start to the shooting career of Boston Celtics forward Grant Williams has by now become the stuff of legends, with the Tennessee product playing well into the first half of his rookie season before he sunk a single 3-point shot.

Since then, however, Williams has morphed from a defensive stalwart in the frontcourt to a lethal sharpshooter on the wing, possessing one of the better treys in the NBA in terms of efficiency. That hasn’t been lost on Celtics team president Brad Stevens, who related his reaction to the Charlotte native’s growth as a player in a recent appearance on the “Toucher and Rich” sports radio talk show this past Thursday.

“I don’t think it’s a surprise,” said Stevens with an air of confidence.
