'I don't know how' - Jarrod Bowen makes Manchester United admission following West Ham defeat

West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen was left scratching his head after watching David de Gea-inspired Manchester snatch victory against the Hammers on Sunday afternoon.

Marcus Rashford settled the scores at Old Trafford - scoring his 100th goal for the club - but De Gea was the hero as he made several fine saves at the other end. It was a 1-0 result that moved United up to fifth position as the Londoners were handed their seventh defeat already this Premier League season.

It leaves Bowen and his teammates firmly in mid-table. However, while that is not in keeping with their finishes in recent campaigns, the England player wants to draw on the positives.

Bowen was summoned by West Ham TV for post-match media duties. He said: "I don't know how we didn't get something out of that game, that second-half performance was a massive positive for us.

"In the first half we were a bit sloppy but, in the second half, you saw levels we want to be at every game. There were lots of chances, the goalkeeper making saves, even my chance at the end.

"Sometimes when it's not falling for you, those are the fine margins that decide the game [against you]. We did everything but score and no-one would disagree that we deserved something from the game."

Bowen continued: "We have got to look at the positives. We have gone to [difficult] places and we have put our authority on the game. We controlled the game and, in the second half against Manchester United, I think we did that again."
