'I discovered I was pregnant at 17 during my first Brazilian wax appointment'

There are some unusual ways that women find out that they're pregnant, but a Brazilian wax might be a new one.

Australian woman, Laura, told the story of how her beautician was the first person to suggest she was likely pregnant on her TikTok @crimpytoses.

In the video, which has since been viewed more than 26,000 times, Laura tells how she was nervous about her first-ever Brazilian wax, despite having had other areas of her body waxed before.

However, unlike usual, she said the temperature of the wax was "excruciating", despite the beautician demonstrating the low temperature of the wax by putting it on her own elbow.

"Finally, she looks at me and she's like, 'You're not pregnant, are you?'"

"And I was like absolutely not!"

But then Laura had to really think about when her last period was and she realised she really could be pregnant.

"I hadn't confirmed (it) but the first person to even suspect it was the lady doing the Brazilian wax," said Laura.

In response to questions about exactly why the beautician suspected she was pregnant, Laura replied: "I was EXTREMELY sensitive to the temperature of the wax. Like to an alarming degree. Apparently, that happens (with pregnancy )."

Since being posted, the video has racked up more than 1,200 likes and dozens of comments from people who expressed their shock at her discovery, and stories of their own.

One person said: "Omg what a way to find out," to which Laura replied saying: "I was SHOOK! So awkward laying there with my skirt around my belly button insisting it's the hottest wax EVER."

Another wrote: "I've been getting waxed for years but immediately stopped when I fell pregnant it was sooo painful!"

A third commented: "YAYA THIS IS WILD."

Someone else said: "I am so glad I came here for this. My goodness, you poor thing."
