Egyptian star actress Lebleba cried when she knew she will be honored during Cairo International Film Festival with the Golden Pyramid Honorary Award for Lifetime Achievement. Lebleba heard the news from Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmy, president of the Cairo International Film Festival.
During an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, the Egyptian actress cried again. She said her tears after Fahmy’s call “are the only expression of my feeling in this moment. I didn’t sleep last night; I recalled my life like a movie.”
“Since I was a child, my mother used to prepare me for work, took care of my outfits, helped me review the scenes and the scripts after she helped me memorize it. I also remembered how she used to accompany me to ballet school for my lessons. I stood on stage for the first time when I had five years.”
Lebleba has dedicated her life to her art. She sacrificed marriage and family, but never regretted this decision. “Since I was a child, I knew nothing but art, which I loved and devoted myself to. I love my audience, which cheered and supported me in my journey.”
“They say the cost of success is high, and I did pay my life a price for my successful career, but it was worth it. It was a big gain because art and people’s love filled my life, I grew with them. I adore and respect art. Marriage may end, siblings may travel, but art has always been here to bring joy to my life,” she added.
