'I buy stuff on sale in Tesco and Home Bargains then sell on Amazon FBA to make hundreds'

A new 'side hustle' trend has emerged which has seen budding entrepreneurs earn themselves some extra cash by flipping products from budget stores and supermarkets. A slew of videos has popped up on the likes of TikTok and Instagram, featuring young content creators buying things like toys, shampoo and skin care products and selling them on Amazon and other sites.

The method is known as 'reselling' and is usually associated with sneaker culture. The videos feature people going to stores like Tesco and Home Bargains to buy multiple products on the clearance aisle before selling them for profit.

They do this by using a profit calculating app where they search how much the original retail price is for a product and how much profit they stand to make if they sell the item on Amazon FBA. Amazon FBA or 'fulfilment by Amazon' is a programme by the company which gives sellers the opportunity to store their products in one of their warehouses to be shipped to customers.

Others have been known to list their finds on sites like Vinted, eBay and Facebook Marketplace to turn a profit.

One video posted by reseller Samiul Tahir has 1.5M views. Titled 'plenty of money to be made from your local supermarket, who woulda thought!', Samiul visits a Tesco store and clears an aisle of reduced price Lego. With the help of his friends, Samiul fills up two trolleys with the toys and pays just under £340, which he calls a 'little business expense'.

The end of the video shows a screenshot of a groupchat of other resellers who have also been buying toys to resell, with Lego being the most popular.

Another account called 'Seller Circle' posted a video titled 'Amazon FBA in Home Bargains is godly' which sees him show followers a Barbie toy priced at £3.99. After checking his app, he saw he could make £4 profit per toy on resale.

Content creator SamsJourney - who has 70.9K followers and has "Follow me on my journey to £1,000,000" in his bio - shared a similar video which sees him go to Tesco and make £75 profit from women's skin care products that are on clearance.

In the TikTok he says "Wow, £75 just sitting on the shelf in Tesco? Just gotta swoop them off, sell them to Amazon get the sales rolling.

"Can be a little more complicated than that but that's essentially what you gotta do. Why don't you have a look around and see if you can if you can find some money sitting on the shelves.

"Guarantee there's some near you. Stop thinking, start doing."
