'I built a privacy fence with cheap IKEA buys - but people say there's one issue'

Those lucky enough to have a garden will know all to well how lovely it is to sit out during hot weather, but not everyone has the luxury of privacy.

Sometimes awkward interactions with next door neighbours are unavoidable, especially if there's not a big fence between your boundaries.

Desperate to soak up the sunshine without prying eyes or having to listen to other people's natter, DIY fans are taking matters into their own hands.

Kayla, who posts on TikTok and Instagram as @itshoneydone, shared the process of making a "DIY privacy wall" and has raved about how easy it is to do on a budget.

Posting a clip of the "backyard makeover", many people praised the hard work she'd put into the project, gushing over the final results.

The DIY fan posted a before picture of her outdoor space, and while it was fine beforehand, she admitted she "loves transforming spaces" into something different.

The video then shows the outdoor space being transformed bit by bit, as she wrote: "If I can do this, you can do this."

The final project looked amazing, and people gushed over the finished product that shows white tiles, a lovely outdoor rug, a sofa, and a privacy wall covered in hanging planters and fairy lights to make the space feel magical.

But it took a lot of effort to complete the renovation, with the video showing wooden beams being fixed into the ground, then the thin wooden slats were secured into place onto the beams, which had been painted.

Kayla explained on Instagram that she was "turning a piece of wood on its side to use as a space between each board."

After all the effort, the video panned to the cosy garden with a fire pit burning in the middle, looking far more expensive than the project cost - with Kayla sharing she managed to complete it for "under $300 (£235)", which shocked many.

"Freaking beautiful! What a great spot to wind down from a busy day!", someone praised, with another writing: "You are clever, talented and I like that you don't give up."

"Not a lot of things impress me but this is wow", one said.

"Where did you get the hanging planters?", another asked, and Kayla admitted: "IKEA! The rings are Amazon though."

She also told fans that the fairy lights were from Home Depot - but similar can be purchased in the UK from B&M, or Amazon for just £15.

While most people loved the DIY job, others pointed out one issue with the privacy fence - and it's all to do with the weather.

Commenters asked how would it work if it started raining, with one TikToker asking: "How will you cover up the furniture?"
