The cost of living crisis has pushed the price of an average family shop up in recent weeks.
As fuel, energy and supermarket food prices continued to rise I logged on to the Iceland website to see how easy it was to cut the price of a big shop and save some money.
After filling the basket with some essentials like butter, eggs and milk, as well as a selection of Iceland's own fruit and vegetables, I then went browsing in the meat and grocery sections to complete a shop that could realistically feed a couple of people for a week. Iceland may be one of the cheaper supermarkets around but the cost very quickly went up as items were added to the basket.

The total shop should be priced at £55.97 for around 27 items that included everything from pasta to rump steaks, lamb chops to Heinz baked beans.
However, Iceland holds a number of offers that can bring that price down by over £10 quite easily. The trick is to go onto the offers section and buy multi-buys from the three for £9, two for £2 and three for £5 sections. By doing this I bought steak, meatballs and chicken worth over £12 for just £9, as well as chips worth £6 for just £4.50.
There is also an offer to get £4.75 worth of Tetleys tea bags for just £3 so that was added to the basket too.
After all of these discounts the total should have been £45.88 and this qualifies for free delivery. But the discounts do not end there. Now it is time to add some vouchers and online discounts to bring the price down further.
The £5 off at Iceland code is available when you spend over £45. By entering ICEFIVE at checkout it brings the price down to £40.88.
For a further £10 off I signed up for deals website Topcashback. They are offering £10 in cashback for any new user who signs up and then orders £35 or more from Iceland. Factoring in cashback brings the price down to £30.88 for a shop that is originally worth over £55.
