'I booked a one-way ticket abroad for man I just met - he ended things before I landed'

A woman has claimed that she was savagely dumped by a man ten days into their whirlwind romance, but that didn't stop her from having the trip of a lifetime. Sophie Burns - who appears to reside in California, United States - was ecstatic when she was asked to spend her summer in Berlin, Germany, with a man that she met at her local farmer's market.

Willing to drop everything for a summer of fun, Sophie's world quickly came tumbling down when she was dumped before her plane had even landed. The TikToker - who boats more than 75,000 followers on TikTok account @lovesophieburns - had touched down in Barcelona, Spain, when she got the call to say that the man had met another woman.

Detailing the peculiar saga on the popular video-streaming service, Sophie's video has surpassed a whopping 3.6 million views to date.

She explained: "I flew on a one way flight to Europe for this guy - I'd known him for like ten days and we had this whirlwind romance. I had met him at the farmer's market and it was a vibe.

"I get to Europe - I'm not in the city he's in yet but I'm in Barcelona and I'm going to Berlin. I've been invite to live in Berlin with him for the summer.

"I'm in Barcelona and the night before my flight he facetimes me. He said, 'hey Soph, I've met someone else - don't come to Berlin'."

While most people would find the situation heart-breaking, Sophie was willing to take the situation in her stride and even experienced one of the 'coolest chapters' in her life.

She went on: "I hung up the phone. I'm sitting in my hotel room and the sun is setting over Barcelona. "I'm just like, 'wow, I'm in Europe alone, I have no plans, I have nowhere to be'.

"I was stoked - I think a lot of people with a different perspective would have been heartbroken, but I was just like, 'hey man, if it wasn't meant to be, it wasn't meant to be - you found another girl and she's probably amazing so good for you and I'll figure my life out'.

"I get on the plane anyway the next day and I go to Berlin. I literally don't know where I'm gonna say.

"So, I land, take the train into town, and I'm walking down the street and I bump into a guy from my high school - who I didn't even know lived in Berlin. I couldn't even remember his name but we were on the same cross country team."

Sophie explained that her fellow pal from school had invited her to a dinner party he was hosting that evening.

She continued: "I go to this dinner party - we're talking Berlin, DJs, chefs, artists, it's a vibe. At the dinner party, there's another girl from my high school and another girl from my childhood.

"I'm at this party reconnecting with all of these people. I turn to the girl from my high school and I'm like, 'hey, I'm in Berlin, I have no idea what's going on'.

"The friend says, 'I'm going out of town for the month, why don't you stay at my place?'" Sophie went on. "She gave me the keys to her apartment! I had a free month in Berlin with her bicycle, her kitchen, everything.

"After that month, doors started opening. I met up with that girl and met the new girl, she was a vibe. I totally understood."

"I ended up staying in Berlin for six months and it was one of the coolest chapters of my life. So, if a guy offers you a one way visit to go live with him - go," she added.

Flocking to the comment section, people praised Sophie for her remarkable story - with one person saying: "Bottle up this energy and sell it. The world needs it."

Meanwhile, someone else said: "Girl... This is life! I've experienced this so many times but you have to be open."

A third wrote: "I love this so much - the universe is incredible."

"What an amazing story, you're totally a vibe," a fourth penned.
