'I believe in it' - Bruno Guimaraes' Newcastle claim as Real Madrid and Juventus left frustrated

Man of the moment Bruno Guimaraes has been told he can achieve all his football dreams at St James' Park - and does not have any escape clauses in his contract that would allow Real Madrid to get their long-term target.

United chiefs are protected from losing their prize asset after his sparkling display had the world's football media talking about Bruno this weekend. OK, it was merely a solid win over Brentford and we are only nine games in.

But the word around the European football circuit is that elite clubs are now rueing the fact they did not snare Bruno from Lyon last January when he suddenly became available. United's rapid movement in the window - spearheaded by head of recruitment Steve Nickson and his South American connections - saw Newcastle essentially jump the queue and catch Juventus, Real Madrid and Paris St-Germain napping.

United grabbed Bruno for just £40million BEFORE the World Cup means that Newcastle already have one of the tournament favourites' potential stars of the tournament on their hands. Were Bruno to get his hands on the World Cup with Brazil - who are 9/2 favourites with some bookies - it would be a major feather in the hat for new look Toon.

When Bruno signed he was told of Newcastle's dreams to one day be one of the biggest clubs in the game. After the game on Saturday he said: "I never doubted the project, I believe in it. I always wanted to play in the Premier League and I am now just enjoying that.

"The ground love me and I love them. I want to keep going.

"I want to be a legend here. "Real Madrid is the best team in the world “It is nice. "But it is just a conversation, it is nothing."

After the city partied throughout the weekend after Eddie Howe led the team to victory against the Bees, the slightly sobering sight of United dropping to sixth on Sunday evening after Man United beat Everton offered a small dose of reality.

When asked about Europe, Bruno said: "We just have a team to keep going. "All the games in the Premier League are so difficult but we need to enjoy the moment.

"It's still the beginning and what is important is to be in this position at the end of the season. It's step by step and game by game.

"The last game against Fulham was very important for the confidence of the boys. And vs Brentford we showed what we do in training each day, I am happy for the gaffer.

"He puts the strategy forward and that's very smart on his part."

One thing is for sure, fans are loving Bruno's input at the moment and the Magpies head to Old Trafford on a high. Bruno was subbed after his two-goal show at St James' but he is fine for the weekend.

Fans were left purring over his performance with Michael Dent summing it up on Facebook saying: "The guy is a genius". While Craig Best said: "There will be a lot more days like this to come."

If this is just the start, Newcastle fans are justified in debating whether Bruno is the best midfield star ever to wear a black and white shirt. He really is this good.
