When it comes to parenting, it can often be hard to know what to do for the best.
However, one step mum has sparked a debate after revealing how she banned her 19-year-old stepdaughter from wearing PINK - which is a division of Victoria's Secret.
While she doesn't have a problem with the brand, she doesn't agree with the slogan written on the back of the jogging bottoms. Taking to Reddit, the 44-year-old said: "My stepdaughter bought jogging pants from the store PINK/Victoria's Secret, the one that has the word PINK across the butt.
"To me, they're highly inappropriate to wear. It doesn't take a genius to figure out why the word PINK is across the butt for a reason because it's referencing/advertising the pink organ right next to it."
Outraged, the step mum ordered the teenager to either return the jogging bottoms or donate them to charity - but she refused.
"She said she shouldn't have to because she bought them with her own money. I said she won't be wearing them in my house and I still have say and she still needs to respect our rules," she added.
She went on to explain how she has been apart of her stepdaughter's life for 10 years, joining the family when the teen's biological mother "stepped out the picture" following her parents' divorce.
The woman said: "Now I'm the big bad guy even though her dad agrees with me. It's not a 'Dad's new girlfriend is being mean to me' situation."
Wanting to know whether she has overreacted, she has asked Reddit users for their thoughts on the item of clothing.
In response, one user said: "Is this a joke? pink is the Victoria's Secret brand for juniors. If she can't wear them now, when will she?
"I guess you and her dad can say she can't wear them in the house, but you can't stop her from wearing them outside the house. She is an adult."
Another user added: "The slogan means what now? That is a stretch. It's just a cutesy marketing slogan for a secondary product line for younger girls.
"If you're finding issue with it, you're the one sexualising your own daughter. Hell, they have cute stuffed dogs with PINK written on them. It's not just pants.
"She bought the pants with her own money. You can make the rule, sure, but she's 19 and your relationship will only suffer for it if this continues to be how you interact while she's an adult."
A third user said: "Literally get over yourself. It's the name of their casual brand. Good lord you pearl clutchers are out of control.
"She's an adult and she bought them using her money. This has absolutely nothing to do with you.
One more user added: "WTH please are you joking! That's not why it says PINK, why would you think! You're wrong for trying to dictate what your adult stepdaughter wears."
