Social media is full of recipes for people to try recipes in air fryers. Having never tried baking in my Cosori pro le 4.7 litre I decided I would attempt to make a sweet treat for the weekend and see how it turned out.
I’ve always been a bit sceptical about baking in an air fryer but loads of people on TikTok have managed so how hard could it be?
Instead of using a recipe from TikTok, I decided to crack out my old baking book and see how the brownie recipe from there worked in the air fryer. I think this was possibly my first mistake, not all brownie recipes are the same.

The one I followed was actually a chocolate hazelnut recipe but not being a big fan of nuts, I changed them to raspberries.
I started off by melting my butter and chocolate together in a bowl over a pan of boiling water. Once that was all melted together and smooth, I took the bowl away from the heat to let the mixture cool off before the next step. I then measured out the amount of caster sugar I needed before adding it to my cooled chocolate and butter and mixing until it was all blended in.
After the sugar I whisked four eggs in a separate cup and added them to the mixture slowly, stirring in between pours so it was all mixed properly. Then it was time to add the remaining dry ingredients, the flour and the cocoa powder. For this part, I made sure to use a sieve to add them both so that they were as lump free as possible, before mixing them into a thick batter.
While I had removed the hazelnuts the recipe said to use, I decided to add raspberries as well as dark and white chocolate chips for extra flavour. Once I had made sure the batter was thoroughly stirred, I put the mixture into my pre-lined tin and popped it into the air fryer. I set the timer to 13 minutes at a temperature of 200 degrees.
After the time was up I used a knife to see if it was cooked and at that point it looked like it was, so I took it out of the air fryer and let it cool for around half an hour or so. I first noticed something hadn’t quite gone to plan when it was too late to do anything. I had taken the brownie out of the tin and had just cut into it when I noticed it was still all gooey in the middle - seemingly not cooked.
So overall, if this had worked out I would say it would have taken around 35 to 40 minutes start to finish, quicker than in the oven. However, I feel my main mistakes were not double checking the recipe would work and having the temperature too high throughout the cooking time.
One thing’s for sure, I definitely will not be trying this one again.
