Eddie Howe has spoken of his pride after emulating Sir Bobby Robson's feat of winning six home games in a row in the Premier League. Not since 2004 had the Magpies pulled off such an achievement at St James' Park.
The 1-0 win over Crystal Palace moves Newcastle up to 11th spot in the Premier League and they could even sneak into the top 10 this weekend with a win over Norwich City. Speaking after the game Howe was elated but typically didn't want to get too carried away.
He said: "It feels amazing. You look back at the start of the run that we've had at home – we just wanted a win, let alone thinking of six.

"We managed to get those important wins looking back now and we've managed to build a really good feeling here, a very good relationship between the supporters and the players, a great atmosphere to play in. Today was electric, especially in that first half when I thought we played very, very well.
"It was great to see us play with a bit more composure and a bit more flair, and I thought we should have probably been more than one goal up. The game changed in the second half and we had to show a different side, and it's great that we've got the capability to adapt our game."
When asked about matching Sir Bobby's record, Howe reflected: "It is incredible because you're talking about an absolute legend of the football club and quite rightly so.
"Someone I always admired – I never met him, but someone I admired from afar greatly for everything he achieved in the game. He's the benchmark, really, around anything that you try to do here and it's great to have done that today."
When pressed on finishing in the top half, Howe said: "I'll be a bit boring for you here as I always am, but I think it's just game by game. We'll look at the next game – it's a very quick turn-around with very little time to recover, but we'll try to go to Norwich and try to win the game and then we'll focus on the next one after that.
"We have a very difficult run-in – we were well aware of that all through the season, that this run of games we had a the end of the season was going to be a severe test. That's why it's great that we've got the points that we have at this moment."
