'I actually feel sick' - Leon Osman reaction sums up Everton emotion during Bournemouth win

Former Everton star Leon Osman was just like every other Toffee during the 1-0 win over Bournemouth.

On a dramatic final day, the Blues were en route to the second tier for the first time in 70 years. Leicester City were in front against West Ham United - meaning Everton had to come out fighting in the second half.

Abdoulaye Doucoure proved the hero with a stunning 57th-minute strike to secure the Toffees’ Premier League status for another year. But not until supporters were forced to endure another 40 minutes of anguish with their club’s future lingering in the balance.

RATINGS: Everton player ratings as Doucoure gets perfect score for stunning Bournemouth goal

The tension inside Goodison Park was palpable as Bournemouth dominated possession but, ultimately, a firm Blues backline held firm. Hearts were in supporters’ mouths when Jordan Pickford denied Matias Vina’s stunning volley in the dying embers.

Once the final whistle blew, a roar of relief echoed around Merseyside as survival was confirmed. That is two lives used now by the Everton hierarchy - with supporters acknowledging the need for improvement next season.

One of those was ex-midfielder Osman, working as a pundit for Australian TV channel Optus Sport. A montage of him reacting to the game perfectly captures how every Everton fan was feeling throughout the game.

Cries of “I actually feel sick” and “I absolutely hated that today” groaned from Osman as he watched on helplessly like everyone else. The agony was worthwhile as Everton ground out a vital three points - meaning they live to fight another day in the Premier League.
