Swansea City are yet to receive concrete offers for striker Joel Piroe.
Watford are thought to have shown an interest in the Dutchman this summer, although he remains a Swansea player with Thursday's 11pm transfer deadline now firmly in sight.
The club are braced for potential late interest in the man who netted 24 goals last season following his move to south Wales from PSV Eindhoven.
And ahead of his side's Championship clash with Stoke City, Russell Martin noted his frustrations over the timing of transfer deadline day - which comes more than a month after the 2022/23 league campaign got under way.
"I hate it. Just to make that clear, I absolutely hate it. How we’ve played so many games with the transfer window open is ridiculous," said the Swansea head coach.
"I’m not sure any manager likes it. I’m sure agents like it, because they love the last minute and getting deals done. If you really want to do it properly, the window shuts the day before the season starts then you have to really work and prepare. It is what it is.
"I hope we go home [after deadline day] and we’re sitting here with the same squad or maybe adding to it, which is unlikely at this minute in time. I'm sure I’ll get asked about Joel Piroe and all these guys, but at this minute in time, they’re here, they’re with us.
"I hope they can stay with us, and until anyone tells me any different, hopefully it’ll make us happy.
"We’ll be travelling back from Stoke on Thursday fortunately so hopefully we don’t have any signal on the motorway and we can just get back here and go straight home."
The Swans have brought in midfielder Luke Cundle on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers this week while they are also on the brink of concluding a deal to sign Armstrong Oko-Flex on loan from West Ham United.
Swansea will stay at St George's Park following their clash with Stoke and will travel back to south Wales on deadline day.
