HYDERABAD: Actor Manchu Vishnu took over the reins of Movie Artistes Association (MAA) on Wednesday. He took charge as president from outgoing president Naresh in what was kept as a lowkey affair at MAA office in Filmnagar.
However, the new president skirted the issue of 11 members of Prakash Raj panel announcing their resignations from their office-bearer posts and as executive committee members. “I have today assumed the office of the President of MAA! Need all your wishes and send me positivity as much as you can (sic),” he tweeted posting pictures on his social media.
Naresh told reporters that the new committee would decide on the Prakash Raj panel resignation issue. “Did all Congressmen leave the country because (Narendra) Modi won,” he retorted. “The Prakash Raj panel should join the team and work together,” he said.
“Why are they wailing? I don’t trust a man who weeps too much. The members have elected whoever they wished to. Members of both panels agreed to work together in the interest of the association irrespective of who wins. Why are they now going back on it,” he questioned.
Naresh also issued a stern warning saying that no one should disturb Vishnu and his team.
Asked why the Prakash Raj panel had blamed him for the murky affairs in MAA, Naresh shot back: “Let them ndot try to play with ‘Vishnu chakram’. It will tear their trouser pockets. They are targeting me because they are scared of me.”
