Around 18 huts of migrant workers were gutted in a major fire that broke out near Indiranagar vegetable market in Karimnagar town on Tuesday morning.
There was no casualty or injury as the workers were away with their families on a pilgrimage to Medaram to attend the Sammakka-Saralamma jatara, sources said. Most are from Mahabubabad district.
Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and the personnel of Telangana Disaster Response and Fire Services department put out the blaze in coordination with the local police. Three bikes, too, were gutted.
The Karimnagar Three Town police suspect short-circuit as the cause of the fire and have launched a probe.
