Hush Acoustics swaps Merseyside for Sheffield with expanded factory base

A maker of soundproofing products for the construction industry has invested £500,000 in a move from Liverpool to Sheffield.

Hush Acoustics has taken a 15,000 sqft factory at Tinsley Industrial Estate after it said no suitable premises for its expansion were available on Merseyside. The relocation means Hush now has significantly increased production and stockholding capabilities.

The acoustic insulation specialist employs 15 people at the new Sheffield site - including six people relocated from Liverpool and nine recruited locally - which it says will help it keep lead times to a minimum for customers. In addition to Hush's timber soundproofing products, the Yorkshire factory will manufacture the firm's rubber-based insulation materials, including acoustic membranes for concrete floors.

Robert Crampton, managing director of Hush Acoustics, said: “Our move to new premises marks the start of an exciting new era of growth for Hush and I’m delighted with the facilities and extra capacity we now have available to us.

“Acoustic comfort and soundproofing in our homes, offices, public buildings, hotels, schools and numerous other types of buildings is becoming an increasingly important design and specification consideration for both new build and conversion projects, and we are committed to ensuring the construction industry has access to the best performing products and systems.”

Hush Acoustics was founded more than 30 years ago in Scotland and in 1998 relocated to Liverpool from where it established a nationwide distribution network before the latest expansion. The firm provides acoustics products for separating floors, ceiling and walls in new builds and refurbishment products.
