Authorities in Clark County, Washington, are investigating a tragic incident involving the death of 60-year-old Lindy Rummel from Brush Prairie. The case took a shocking turn when it was revealed that her husband, James Rummell, is suspected of orchestrating her murder.
The events unfolded on March 23 when deputies responded to a home in Hockinson, Washington, following a report of a woman with a gunshot wound. Lindy Rummel was discovered deceased upon their arrival, with initial reports suggesting a home invasion and burglary had taken place.
However, further investigation led authorities to a potential murder suspect, Darrell Riley, a friend of James Rummell. Riley was arrested by the Eugene Police Department in Oregon, where the stolen truck linked to the crime was also found.
It was uncovered that James Rummell had driven to Eugene to pick up Riley the day before the murder. Subsequent evidence indicated that Rummell may have solicited Riley to stage a burglary as a cover-up for Lindy Rummel's murder.
Riley is currently held on a Temporary Felony Warrant for Murder in the First Degree, awaiting extradition to Clark County. Meanwhile, James Rummell has been booked into the Clark County Jail for Making False Statements to a Public Servant, with authorities considering him a suspect in the murder.
The investigation is ongoing as officials work to unravel the details of this tragic and complex case. Stay tuned for further updates as more information becomes available.
