Husband charged over Hamilton Island honeymoon death of newlywed bride

The husband of a new bride killed in a crash on their honeymoon has been charged over the incident.

Marina Hanna, 29, died on Hamilton Island in June after the golf buggy she was a passenger in, rolled over.

Ms Hanna suffered critical injuries and, despite efforts from first responders, she died at the scene.

Following an extensive police investigation, Ms Hanna's husband, Robbie Morgan, has been charged with several offences, including driving without due care and attention causing death and using a mobile phone while driving.

Police had initially said there was no indication that Ms Hanna's death was anything more than "a tragic accident".

The 30-year-old is due to face the Proserpine Magistrates Court next month.

Life cut short

Ms Hanna and her husband had been married for less than a fortnight when they travelled to Hamilton Island for their honeymoon.

It followed a spectacular ceremony and reception in Sydney at Doltone House, overlooking Hyde Park.

In the days after her death, Ms Hanna was remembered by close friend Sara Perry as a funny, amazing and the most loving person.

"The love Marina shared with all of us was unconditional. It was hard to believe such a tiny person had so much to give," Ms Perry said.
