Hurricane Debby has officially made landfall in Florida near Steinhatchee, with winds reaching 80 miles per hour, as reported by the National Hurricane Center. This landfall occurred within close proximity, just 20 miles, of Hurricane Idalia's landfall in the Big Bend of Florida back in August 2023. Hurricane Idalia was classified as a Category 3 hurricane with winds of 125 mph.

Following its landfall, Hurricane Debby is expected to weaken, transitioning into a tropical storm by early afternoon as it moves closer to the Georgia state line. The storm's trajectory indicates a slow movement towards and along the Southeast coast over the next few days.

This movement is anticipated to bring significant rainfall across various regions, including parts of Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. The forecast warns of potentially life-threatening and historically high rainfall totals in these areas.
