As Hurricane Beryl continues to impact the state of Texas, various services have been affected in the region.
Houston Metro has announced the suspension of local bus, METRORapid, METRORail, and METROLift services until 8 a.m. local time on Monday. Additionally, Park & Ride services will be suspended, METRO HOV/HOT lanes will be closed, and RideStores will remain closed during this time.
In a statement, Houston Metro emphasized their commitment to ensuring the safety of customers and employees, with crews monitoring conditions to restore services promptly.
Several hospitals in the Houston area have also been impacted by the storm. Memorial Hermann will have some locations closed on Monday or conduct virtual visits only. Harris Health System will cancel elective procedures and close outpatient facilities and administrative offices. Texas Children’s Hospital will remain open as scheduled, while The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center will resume patient appointments at noon on Monday.
The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston will be closed for outpatient appointments on Monday, along with several clinics in Beaumont, Conroe, Humble, Katy, Richmond, Sugar Land, and Tomball. Some clinics in Lake Jackson, Galveston, and Texas City will be closed on July 8-9.
Major ports in Texas, including Houston, Galveston, Freeport, and Texas City, have ceased operations as Hurricane Beryl approaches landfall. The United States Coast Guard has implemented Port Condition Zulu, leading to the suspension of all cargo and bunkering operations at these ports. Texas ports play a crucial role in crude oil shipments in the United States.
