Top hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald has said he wakes up with “a smile on his face” every morning since the arrival of his second son, Daithi Og.
But the Waterford boss admitted he questioned whether or not he was ready to become a father again – 25 years after welcoming his first son, Colm, from his previous marriage to Ciara Flynn.
The happy couple revealed his wife Sharon O’Loughlin gave birth to Daithi Og in May but they kept the news quiet until October.

Speaking about becoming a father again, Davy told us: “Fatherhood is great. The first lad was 25 years ago.
"Like, you would wonder to yourself, am I too old for this? I’m 51 so you’d say to yourself am I too old for this? But to be honest, I wake up with a smile on my face every morning when I see him. I’m really happy he is in my life. He’s great.”
But the Ireland’s Fittest Family host hopes Daithi Og won’t be “prejudged” like Colm was and feel pressured to take up sports - admitting “being my son might not be the easiest in GAA circles.”
Speaking at the opening of Toy Show The Musical last week, the Clare native said: “Whatever road he wants to himself. I want him to have his own thing that he wants to do.
"I don’t want to push him to do hurling, whatever he wants to do we will support him, and I think that’s the most important thing.
"We want him to have his own chance – maybe being my son might not be the easiest in GAA circles.
“I just want him to just have his own thing and people just treat him as him. That’s the most important thing. I hope he gets that break.
“It was harder for Colm because I suppose people would associate him with me very quickly and he was probably prejudged. I hope Daithi Og gets a bit more of a break and he’s his own man,” he added.
