Hunter Biden To Face Trial On Gun Charges In Delaware

Welcome back. Hunter Biden is set to go on trial facing gun charges in Delaware beginning Monday. He also faces another trial on tax charges in California, scheduled to begin in September. The federal government indicted him in both cases after a plea deal collapsed in court last year.

On Monday, the trial will commence, and it remains uncertain if a plea deal will be reached at the last minute. Hunter Biden's attorney hinted that Hunter did not check the box on the federal firearm form indicating he was not a drug user, which is a crucial aspect of the case. Hunter Biden was recently seen boarding Air Force One on his way to Washington from Delaware.

The charges against Hunter Biden include three felony counts of lying on a federal gun form in 2018 by falsely claiming he was not a drug user. His attorney suggested in court that there may have been discrepancies in how the form was filled out, raising questions about the accuracy of the information provided.

The special counsel's team plans to introduce evidence from Hunter Biden's laptop, which his lawyers tried to exclude. The laptop has been a subject of controversy, with conflicting opinions on its authenticity. However, the judge ruled that the laptop will be presented as evidence in the trial.

While the special counsel is prohibited from mentioning Hunter's pending tax case in California, the trial is expected to proceed with jury selection on Monday. The trial is anticipated to last around two weeks, with the possibility of extending into a third week. Prosecutors have indicated that they do not foresee the trial lasting more than two weeks.

It remains to be seen whether Hunter Biden will testify as a witness in his defense. The trial judge, who previously rejected a plea deal for Hunter Biden, will preside over the proceedings. Both the prosecution and defense appear prepared for the trial to begin on Monday.
