They suggested that Hunter may not have indicated his drug use on the federal firearm form, a crucial aspect of the case. The defense raised concerns about the possibility of tampering with the form, emphasizing a chain of custody issue.
Hunter Biden, who faces three felony charges for allegedly lying on the gun form in 2018 by denying drug use, was seen boarding Air Force One en route from Delaware to Washington, D.C. His attorney, Abby Lowell, argued in court that the authenticity of the form needs to be thoroughly examined.
The special counsel, led by Weiss, plans to present evidence from Hunter Biden's laptop, a contentious issue that the defense sought to exclude. Despite objections, the judge ruled in favor of admitting parts of the laptop as evidence. The laptop, previously linked to allegations of Russian interference by former intelligence officials, is deemed by the special counsel as containing substantial proof of Hunter's guilt, supported by independent sources.
However, the judge barred any mention of Hunter's separate tax case in California during the trial. Notably, the same judge had rejected a plea deal last year that would have spared Hunter from prison time on the gun charges. While a last-minute plea agreement remains a possibility, both sides appear prepared for the commencement of jury selection on Monday, anticipating a trial duration of up to three weeks.
