A popular restaurant in Hunt's Cross is in the running to be crowned Asian Restaurant of the Year in this year's Asian Curry Awards.
The longlist for this year's Asian Curry Awards has been revealed, with Purple Olive, located on Speke Road, among the finalists vying for the top spot. The Indian restaurant aims to offer an authentic and decadent experience of "Indian and sub-continent cuisine by an award winning chef".
A record number of nominees will now be whittled down by online public vote. Visiting judges will determine the winners, who will then be championed at a swanky awards ceremony at Grosvenor House in London on November 20, sponsored by Just Eat.

The awards come at a crucial time for the hospitality industry, which is still reeling from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and the current cost of living crisis. Many restauranteurs are dealing with a 'quadruple whammy' of issues, comprising of rising food prices, increased energy costs, staff shortages and customers struggling with the cost of living crisis, so less likely to eat out.
Yawar Khan, chairman of the Asian Catering Federation (ACF), urged the public to cast their votes, as a prestigious accolade can have a significant boost to an establishment’s bottom line. He commented: "Every week I hear from another owner closing their restaurant because they cannot see an end in sight to the economic situation – but an award win can bring a massive upsurge in trade.
"For customers wanting to help their favourite restaurants survive, their votes can be crucial." Food lovers can vote for their favourite Asian restaurants and takeaways by clicking here.
