Police have launched a probe after a man was seriously assaulted in Renfrew in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Officers are appealing for witnesses following the incident, during which the 25-year-old victim was attacked with an unknown weapon.
He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment after he sustained a serious facial injury.
The incident happened between 2am and 3am, near to the town's Kirklandneuk playing fields.

Officers have released the description of a man they are keen to speak to in connection with the incident, he is around 5ft 10in in height, of slim to medium build and was wearing a blue puffer jacket with the hood up, dark grey or black jeans and black trainers.
Detective Constable James Campbell said: "This incident saw a man sustain a serious facial injury.
"I am appealing for anyone with any information which may assist us to get in touch."
He added: "I would also ask anyone who was in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage to contact us."
