Twin 11-year-old girls have disappeared from their home in a Leicestershire village, sparking an urgent police appeal.

Gracie and Millie Bennett were reported missing shortly after 8.30pm on Tuesday from their home in Mountsorrel, five miles south of Loughborough.

Both their family and police are concerned for their welfare.

The missing twins are described as both being white, 4ft 8ins tall and of a slim build. They both have straight, dark brown hair below their shoulders.

Millie was wearing a black Nike Tec jumper, black jeans and white high-topped Nike trainers. Her sister, Gracie, was wearing a navy blue hoody with the initials ‘MB’ on the chest, blue jeans and white Puma trainers.

Police said one of the girls is also carrying a cream-coloured backpack, while the other may have a navy backpack with white spots.

Members of the community have reacted with shock to the news of the girls’ disappearance, with many saying they hoped the pair would be found swiftly.

Responding to the police’s appeal, one member of the public said: “What a nightmare for their parents! Hope they are found safe and well, soon”.

Another added: “I hope they are found, quickly, safe and well... The parents must be going out of their minds. Truly any parent's worst nightmare.”
