Hunt for motorbike after home peppered with bullets

Police are investigating after home in Sydney's south was peppered with bullets. (HANDOUT/NSW POLICE)

Detectives are hunting for a motorbike rider captured on CCTV shortly before a home was peppered with bullets in Sydney's south.

Just after 7am on December 23, emergency services were called to Hawksbury Esplanade, in Sylvania Waters, after reports of a shooting.

Officers found multiple bullet holes had damaged the front door of the home.

Residents reported hearing two loud bangs earlier that morning but did not notice the damage at the time.

Detectives established a crime scene and started an investigation into the incident.

As part of their investigation, police have released CCTV footage of a motorcycle that was captured in the area before and after the shooting.

The footage shows the rider on different street cameras in the early hours of December 23.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage has been urged to contact Sutherland Police or Crime Stoppers.
