A man is still at large after attempting to rob a newsagents while wielding a meat cleaver.
Merseyside Police is appealing for information following an attempted robbery at a newsagents in Stoneycroft. A man armed with a meat cleaver entered Bon Bon Newsagents on East Prescot Road, Stoneycroft, at around 8.50am on Thursday, August 25.
Staff at the shop were reported to be unharmed but left extremely shaken, and the man made off towards Springfield Park.

An investigation has been launched by police with forensic and CCTV enquiries ongoing. The man is described as white, in his 30s, wearing a dark tracksuit, navy blue jacket, and navy blue Puma baseball cap.
Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: “Although nothing was stolen, to be confronted by an offender with a large weapon is a distressing experience and we are supporting the victim as our enquiries continue.
“If you live locally or were passing through and saw either the incident itself or the man making off, check CCTV, dashcam and any other devices as what you know could be vital in this investigation. We are committed to tracking down anyone who targets or threatens those hard-working businesses in our communities.”
