Hunt for killer after man seen leaving building where victim was stabbed to death

The hunt for a killer is underway after a man in his 40s was found with fatal stab injuries at a house in Birmingham.

Police rushed to the flat in Moseley Street, Digbeth, just before 7pm yesterday and found the victim had been stabbed to death.

Detectives are now urgently trying to find another man who was seen leaving the building.

He is described as black, in his 20s, around 5ft 2ins tall and slim, reports Birmingham Live.

A West Midlands Police statement said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who saw him and may have any further information.

"We are still trying to contact the man’s family to inform them of his tragic death, but in the meantime our officers are working around the clock to identify his killer."

Police have sealed off Moseley Street between Barford Street and Charles Henry Street and along Rea Street South to Cheapside while forensic examinations are carried out.

A force statement added: "We are exploring CCTV within the area.

"You will expect to see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.

"We have been speaking to a number of witnesses but we would like to hear from anyone who knows something and has not yet spoken to us."
