A man has been left with serious head injuries after being attacked by two men at a shop in Uddingston.
The 44-year-old man was inside a premises on Main Street around 2pm when he was attacked by the pair wearing balaclavas and high-vis vets.
The suspects made off in a dark grey/blue Volvo and the victim was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was treated for serious head injuries.
Detectives are appealing for any witnesses to come forward to help identify the men.
Both suspects are described as between 20 and 30-years-old and were wearing balaclavas, black trousers, black long-sleeved tops, black footwear, and a sleeveless high-vis vest.
The first man was between 5ft 8in and 5ft 10in tall and of slim to medium build.
The second man was between 5ft 7in and 5ft 8in and also of a slim to medium build.
Detective Inspector Susie Cairns, from Cambuslang CID, said: "This appears to have been a targeted attack and we do not believe there was any risk to the wider public.
"It took place in premises on a busy road, with numerous members of the public present, so we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
"We’re also keen to hear from anyone with potential dashcam footage or private CCTV from the area, as it could prove vital to our enquiries."
