Hunt as suspect in Ashley Dale murder case remains 'at large'

A suspect "remains at large" in the murder of Ashley Dale, the ECHO understands.

So far 15 people have been arrested, including three who have been charged, after the 28-year-old Knowsley Council worker was shot dead in her own home on August 21 last year. Shortly after midnight a gunman burst through the front door of the property in Leinster Road, Old Swan, and fired multiple shots "indiscriminately".

Detectives have said they do not believe Ashley was the intended target of the gunman. The ECHO understands at least one suspect remains wanted for questioning in connection to the case. Merseyside Police declined to comment.

This week Joseph Peers, 28, of Woodlands Road, Roby and James Witham, 40, of Ashbury Road, Huyton, were charged with murder and possessing a firearm, namely a "Skorpion machine-pistol", with intent.

The third man, Kallum Radford, 25, of Treatham Road, Kirkby, was charged with assisting an offender by "taking possession" of a Hyundai I30 car allegedly "used by the offenders" in the murder. Peers and Witham were remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing next while Radford was granted conditional bail.

On what would have been Ashley's 29th birthday, on December 21, her family shared a tribute describing how their lives "can never be normal again". They said: "Life has become a living nightmare for Ashley's parents, siblings and family. Her loving, kind and articulate nature showed through with the number of friends she had. We couldn't have been more proud of Ashley.

"A huge hole has been left, life will never be the same again. We miss you Ash with all our hearts and vow that justice for 'Our Ash' will be served."
