Police have launched an urgent hunt to track down a prisoner who has absconded from HMP Leyhill. Officers have urged anyone who sees Sean Phipps to call 999 and have warned people not to approach him.
The 51-year-old failed to return to the prison which is close to Charfield in South Gloucestershire yesterday (June 1) after being on day release in Bristol. Phipps is white, 6ft 2ins tall and was wearing a black coat over a blue top, blue jeans and brown Timberland boots.
He also wore a black Casio watch, blue glasses and carried a vape pen with him. In a statement, Avon and Somerset Police said: "Have you seen Sean Phipps?

"He failed to return to HMP Leyhill earlier today having been on day release. If you see him, don't approach, call 999 quoting reference 5222130002."
