The pagers used in a recent deadly attack in Lebanon were initially thought to have ties to Hungary, but a Hungarian government spokesperson clarified that they were not manufactured in Hungary. The confusion arose when a Taiwanese company, whose trademark was found on the pagers, indicated that the models used in the attack were created by its distributor, BAC Consulting, located in Budapest, Hungary.
However, the Hungarian government spokesperson, Zoltan Kovacs, revealed that the company in question is merely a trading intermediary and does not have any manufacturing facilities or operations in Hungary. With only one registered manager at its declared address, the spokesperson confirmed that the devices in question have never been present in Hungary.
Kovacs emphasized that Hungarian national security services are actively collaborating with international partner agencies and organizations regarding the investigation. Despite the concerning nature of the attack, he assured that the case does not pose a national security risk to Hungary.
