The deputy manager of a Nottingham charity shop expects to lose hundreds of pounds after a van rolled down the road and smashed through the store's front window. Staff at the Oxfam store in Mansfield Road, Sherwood, said the damage was caused while a driver was making a delivery at a business across the street between 6am and 7am on Monday, October 17.
"A van was making a delivery, I'm not sure if she left her handbrake off or if it was faulty. She saw the bin men waving to her and then saw the van rolling down into the window," deputy manager Cerise Crossman told Nottinghamshire Live.
The shop estimated up to £300 of stock has been lost as a result, as shelves displaying items such as jewellery, crockery and camera lenses were destroyed. "Some good items have been damaged and insurance won't cover them as we haven't got the original receipts as they're second-hand," said Phil Gross, whose roles include store treasurer.

"There were some good quality items on show at the front to try and entice people in. It was quite an expensive error."
The accident comes just three days after a car crashed into the front of Rustic Vapez, which is less than 200 meters down the road from Oxfam. Ms Crossman added: "I couldn't believe it, you kind of think it's a vicious attack, but it was just an accident.
"It's baffling how it only hit us but no-one got hurt which is a good thing. What's been great is the number of volunteers turning up and helping clean up. The community has been great." She said the store, which usually makes £600 a day, would most likely be shut for two or three days.
Nottinghamshire Police has been approached for comment.
