Hundreds of children took their first step into the world of letters on ‘Vidyarambham’ day on Tuesday in Wayanad.
Over 300 children participated in Vidayarambham ceremonies at the Sree Mahaganapathy Temple at Ganapathivattom, Sulthan Bathery. Thanthri Kozhikottiri Kunhaniyan Namboothrippadu led special poojas on the occasion.
As many as four ‘Gurus’ helped the tiny tots to write ‘Harisree’ on brass platters filled with rice. The Vidyarambham proceedings began around 8.30 a.m.
All major temples in the district witnessed heavy rush on the day. The ceremonies were held in all temples under the Malabar Devaswom Board, including Sree Bhagavathy Temple at Valliyurkavu and Sree Mahavishnu Temple at Thirunelly.
The ritual was also performed at Sree Rama temple at Ponkuzhy, Sree Mariyamman Temple at Sulthan Bathery, Sree Bhagavathy Temple at Cheengery, and Ayyappa Temple at Kalpetta.
Many participated in ceremonies held at educational and cultural institutions across the district.
