The mother of late Russian opposition leader, Alexei Navalny, visited her son's grave on Saturday, accompanied by the mother of Navalny's widow. This visit took place as hundreds of mourners braved long lines for fear of arrest for a second day to pay their respects to the dissident who was laid to rest on Friday.
Many individuals expressed their desire to honor the legacy of the Kremlin's most outspoken critic. One mourner shared, 'I've decided to come because I want to honor the memory of the man who has become a symbol of perseverance for me. And after what's happened, there's a feeling of very deep sorrow. But as horrible as it may sound, it is still pleasant to see how many people came here. And this makes me feel some kind of communion.'
Alexei Navalny passed away in an Arctic prison last month, leading to accusations from his supporters that he had been murdered. The Kremlin has consistently denied any involvement in his death.
