Humza Yousaf donated a couple of pints of blood in Dundee yesterday.
The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care said he was proud to make the donation at Ninewells Hospital.
The MSP was showing his support for patients, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) and NHS Scotland by visiting the Dundee Blood Donor Centre.
Bosses there said his donation was particularly welcome during the school half term, when donations can drop off by as much as 20% as people are busy with other activities.
Mr Yousaf said: “I am proud to be a blood donor and had a great experience giving blood at Dundee Donor Centre today. Ninewells Hospital, where Dundee Donor Centre is based, is known to everyone in Dundee, and it's easy to book your appointment there online.
“I also very much enjoyed meeting staff.”
SNBTS Associate Director Debbie McNaughton said: “It was great to welcome the Cabinet Secretary today. Dundee Donor Centre is open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday, and we would love as many people as possible to join him and book an appointment.”
