Hull KR set to lose key duo before Leeds Rhinos visit

Hull KR coach Willie Peters has provided an update on Kane Linnett and Mikey Lewis after the pair picked up setbacks in Sunday's 6-16 derby defeat to Hull FC. Linnett is ruled out of Friday's trip to Leeds Rhinos, with Lewis also a major doubt.

Linnett exited the field in the first half, with Lewis copping an injury seconds before the final whistle. The Australian confirmed the back-rower failed his head assessment after clashing heads with what looked to be fellow Robin Sam Luckley. In Lewis' case, Peters still needs some clarity on what the actual setback is.

At the time, it looked like another head knock, but it could be an issue with his leg. With new recruit, Brad Schneider waiting in the wings to make his bow at Headingley.

"Kane Linnett failed his HIA," said Peters. "I thought Mikey was a leg injury, but I'm not too sure. He might not play, and Kane definitely won't. Brad Schnieder coming back will come in on Friday and will help with our attack. He has just got off the plane, so we can't ask too much of him, but he will get there and help our attack."

Another player who is expected to provide a boost to the Robins is James Batchelor. The back-rower hasn't played since being knocked out at Magic Weekend, but he is likely to slot straight in for the injured Linnett.

"Yeah. He will have to get through the week, but he's (Batchelor) started contact, and we are aiming for him to be back next week."
