Hull firm's pride as installation rating puts it in top bracket for UK window work

Hull family-owned firm EYG Home Improvements has been rated one of the top installers in the country by a government-backed scheme.

FENSA, which conducts random inspections of approved installers' work, rated EYG in the top 20 out of more than 6,000 registered home improvement companies for the number of installations carried out – making the firm one of the biggest regional home improvement firms in Britain. They further recognised EYG is one of their “top performers” in that list.

The rating is a source of pride for the firm, whose headquarters are based in Wiltshire Road, Hull, where the manufacturing of their entire home improvement range is also based.

Managing director Nick Ward said: “Having FENSA rate EYG as one of their top performers in the top 20 firms nationally is an incredible achievement and we are delighted to be recognised for the hard work of our manufacturing and installations teams in achieving this.”

EYG, which has been in business for more than 50 years, joined FENSA in 2008 and has carried out almost 34,000 installations since then.

Installations manager Neil Pooley said: “We are very strict on compliance, and this year we are out-performing many of our competitors on inspections. This is really something for us to feel proud of, as it verifies that we don’t cut corners. The FENSA inspection covers everything from the structural supports, to using safety or toughened glass where appropriate, and that hinges are correct. This rating brings peace of mind to our customers that our installations are carried out properly and professionally, and that our products have passed our high standards of manufacturing.”

So far this year EYG has completed 1,220 installations of windows and doors, which also ranks them twelfth nationally for volume. It has secured major contracts with the likes of fellow East Yorkshire firm Beal Homes.
