Hull City look to be the first club set to make an offer to get Ryan Porteous out of Hibs next month.
The Championship outfit are one of several clubs in England's second tier that are in the hunt for the Scotland cap.
The 23-year-old has made it clear in recent weeks that he wishes to leave the Easter Road club at the end of his contract in the summer.
Lee Johnson confirmed to the press that, if the money is right, then the Edinburgh club will look to move on the powerful centre-back next month with the transfer window re-opens.
Serie A side Udinese have also been credited with an interest in the Hibees hero.
Rangers and Celtic have of course been linked with swoops for him too, however, Porteous has clarified that he sees his future in a league away from Scotland.
According to the Scottish Sun, Hull are ready to offer him that opportunity.
Hibs want a decent fee for their top asset, but it's said that The Tigers could hit the with a low offer in the coming weeks.
Speaking to Sky Sports about recent transfer speculation, Porteous said: "I do like the opportunity and the idea of moving to a different league and testing myself there.
"There are a lot of boys who have left Scottish football and flourished.
"I am open to ideas and now it is about trying to find out what the best one is.
"Every time you go away with the national team and you come back to Hibs it is a bit of a come down because it is such a high standard of training and such high intensity in the games.
"Having spoken to John McGinn at Villa every single day is like that, that is something I really want to aspire to."
Asked specifically about the Rangers link, he said: "As I said I do really like the idea of moving to a different league and challenging myself.
"That [Rangers] wouldn't go down too well, so we will see.
"It was obviously a very difficult one [decision to leave], something I didn't take lightly, I didn't make it fast.
"I maybe thought I wasn't developing as a player as fast as I was 18 months ago, two years ago.
"Hopefully it will develop me as a player faster and I can push for Scotland matches regularly and start them."
