Hugo Lloris issues exciting Clement Lenglet update as he hails Tottenham transfer

Tottenham's pre-season tour of South Korea is brought to you in association with Nord VPN, sponsors of football.london's coverage.

Hugo Lloris has claimed he is "really happy" following Clement Lenglet's move to the club on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona. A regular in Barca's team up until last season, the Spurs captain knows the centre-back very well having played with him numerous times on international duty for France.

Capable of playing on the left of the back three and also centrally, Lenglet will give Antonio Conte plenty of options next season as he looks to have Spurs challenging at the top of the Premier League and also for major honours. Lloris believes the new signing has all the qualities to help the team and that his experience will prove invaluable.

"About Clement, I'm really happy. Obviously I would have preferred him to be here with the team but it was not to be and he is working very hard to make sure he is going to be ready to work with the team soon," Lloris told football.london when speaking ahead of Saturday's friendly against Sevilla. "You know he's the kind of player who is going to help the team, obviously with his experience, having played in a club like Barcelona and also his experience with the national team, even if the last few times he was not called, I think he has the ambition to get back in the national team.

"As a player I think he's a modern defender, comfortable to be able to play from the back, he has a great left foot and he can be very strong in one vs one and he's strong in the air. Even if it's never easy when you arrive in the Premier League and he will have to adapt to the intensity of the games but he is a high level player.

"Also I'm even more happy because I have a good connection with him and also a great relationship with him. He has a great personality and he will adapt well to the team."

The end of next month will mark 10 years since Lloris moved to Tottenham from Lyon. The World Cup winner may not have experienced a summer like the current one with Spurs so active in the transfer market ahead of the season, something which has left him very excited ahead of the new term.

"It's going to be 10 years [here for me]. It's still very exciting," he explained to football.london. "I think the club has tried to put Antonio and the players in the best position. We are all looking forward to returning to the Champions League. We want to be even more competitive in all competition.

"We are going to start the season with a lot of ambition. The priory at the moment is the preparation. We know how important it is to be at a high level for all the competitions."
