With Newcastle United chasing a deal for Hugo Ekitike, supporters are eagerly awaiting the player's decision over a move for Tyneside. A deal has been agreed by the Magpies and Reims - with the player to make a decision on his future.
The 19-year-old has been scouted by many teams around Europe this season, with Borussia Dortmund rumoured to be among the suitors this summer, after scoring an impressive 10 goals in 24 games for Reims in Ligue 1 this term.
But why didn't Ekitike join the Toon back in January? Well, the deal was almost done in the winter window.

However, on the last day of the transfer window, Reims released a statement, saying: “Despite the offers made, Hugo Ekitike and the Stade de Reims have decided by mutual agreement to continue the adventure together.
"Stade de Reims, through its president Jean-Pierre Caillot, is delighted to be able to count on its striker until the end of the season."
According to Ekitike himself it was because the timing wasn't right. The player spoke to L’Equipe at the end of the season: “The timing wasn’t right. It was better to stay here (with Reims), to play a full season, to establish myself. “I have a lot of respect for that big club (Newcastle United). However, it was all happening very quickly."
Ekitike also spoke about challenges he will face in the future, saying: “I consider myself ready for anything. Whether that is staying here, or taking up a challenge that everyone agrees with (elsewhere)."
