Hugh Grant unveiled as green-haired Oompa Loompa as new Wonka film trailer lands

Hugh Grant has been spotted in the official trailer for the upcoming movie about Willy Wonka, where he portrays a tiny CGI Oompa-Loompa. In the film titled "Wonka," Four Wedding star Grant features alongside Timothee Chalamet, who takes on the role of the eccentric chocolate factory owner.

The movie is a prequel based on the classic children's book by Roald Dahl and explores the events leading up to the opening of Wonka's famous chocolate factory. Directed by Paul King, known for his work on the Paddington films, the film boasts a star-studded cast, including Matt Lucas, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, and Olivia Colman.

In the trailer, the final moments reveal a meeting between Wonka and Grant's character, who is trapped in a glass jar. Wonka remarks, "So you're the funny little man who's been following me?" Grant's Oompa-Loompa character responds, "I will have you know that I am a perfectly respectful size for an Oompa-Loompa."

The young Wonka, played by Dune actor Chalamet, is depicted as a magician, inventor, and chocolate maker. A new trailer, which landed today, showcases his encounters with a chocolate cartel, his partnership with a young girl, and his journey to establish his renowned chocolate shop. Additionally, the trailer hints at Wonka's invention of a chocolate that enables people to fly.

In 1971’s Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, Gene Wilder played the title character in the classic film. Johnny Depp starred in Tim Burton’s 2005 adaptation Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.

Wonka is set to be released in December.
